You are confusing relative productivity shifts with absolute productivity shifts. If the rest of the world increases their productivity and ours grows as well - we are all better off - although some individual segments of the economy may experience contraction.

Just because someone else is getting richer, it does not mean you are getting poorer. Although, in SV we probably are.

I'll agree with the accuracy of this statement, for some of the software departments.

Maybe software has matured. Maybe it's now like the Operation Dept. Maybe we need to move on to bigger and better things. Maybe software has become mature and it's time to invest into innovation for the next big thing.

Or, maybe we need to give a software credit, if we want to retain software here.
