I agree on timing of the TRAIN wreck, but not sure government numbers will ever be accused of telling the "truth."

Mish to Harmy.....
Scrap Steel
up 30% overnight
Anyone buy this story?
If true, implications?

Reply from Harmy - from down under
Yes, I buy it !! The coking coal producers down here have just concluded the '04 price negotiations. It's up a mind-blowing 40% percent - forty percent in a year !! - and all because the Chinese are importing it and not exporting it. The Japanese who we mainly sell to were wringing hands and begging for a reduction but they didn't get it.
A few posts back I said that commodities would go up on the back of a weak USD and rising shipping costs and this proves it.
Regards
Harmy
