There was no rush to go into Iraq, so why did Bush rush?
Hardly a last resort. Bush hadn't even gotten into serious negotiations at the UN yet. Cheney and RUmsfeld didn't even want to bother with the UN. Bush only went to the UN because leaders like Kerry made him promise to. Also because Blair needed to.

Bush made the UN inspectors pull out even though Saddam was actually being forthcoming for once. Remember the drone and misiles they found before the invasion. Turns out that was all they ever found.

If you think a 500 billion dollar war cannot wait weeks, months and even years until one is sure about the threat you're just as reckless as Bush was. Now we could be stuck there for 50 years (see Korea) all because Bush couldn't wait a few weeks or months to make sure inspections and the threat of force wouldn't do the trick.

My guess is they wanted the oil and they wanted it NOW. Otherwise the rush in makes little sense. Or maybe they had it in mind to invade Iran next. Whatever the reasons, they rushed in willy-nilly without any serious negotiations or diplomacy.
