I just lost an old friend who worked for the State of Texas DOT for 29 years, in IT. All his friends tried to get him to "get with it" and make the big bucks like us, but he liked the security. The state offered him a buy out a year early, he got his pension but died six months later from a stroke. Sometimes thinking of the future too much just doesn't work out..
