It doesn't cut it for most people to have males run a girl scout troop. And they don't run them.

How do you feel about priests having alter boys, btw? Just wondering!

I believe in preserving standards, if they're high ones, but not if they're silly ones about something that's nobody's business but that of the individuals involved.

Do you think there should be laws against members of different races who fall in love marrying each other? Many people used to think that such laws "preserved standards." How about laws restricting who could engage in certain professions or trades or who could own land? Was it "preserving standards" when Jews weren't allowed to work the land? Was it "perserving standards" not so very long ago when Jews were admitted to colleges on a strict quota system? Many Ivy League college administrations thought so, so after they hit their ten per cent Jewish quota, they turned away brilliant Jews in favor of less brilliant gentiles. It was affirmative action for non-Jews.

There are standards and there are standards.
