Action Items
------------------

1. The GOP wants Kerry to run, not Howard Dean -- Some
indications that the GOP wanted Dean, not Kerry. . .

1.John Kerry is the poster boy for special interests. Karl Rove will be able to peel Kerry like an onion and there is a lot there. Rove knows Kerry can't hit Bush on this weakness. Read:

The Two John Kerrys
laweekly.com

2.Quoting Chuck Todd, editor of "The Hotline": "But the fact is, no groups from the right have hit John Kerry with any paid media. John Edwards has been hit a lot, and Howard Dean was hit a lot." Eg.: on Inside Politics
cnn.com; (PS
Judy wondered aloud, well, that would seem to help Kerry. No duh, Judy - Why would right wing groups be targeting Kerry's opponents? )

3. RNC surrogate "journalists" like Will and Krauthammer, The WashingtonTimes, The National Review, have done little else but dump on Dean since last summer. Think they'd want a hand in ending the candidacy of Bush's dream candidate? Does anyone actually believe that? Since Kerry has advanced to the front-runner status, however, there have been a few "Kerry as worthy opponent" pieces. Hmmm. Why would they do that?

4. from today: NewsMax (right wing online "news") is conducting an urgent national poll:

Who would you vote for: George W. Bush or John Kerry?
newsmax.com -

if you vote for Kerry, it takes you straight to his website. Why would a right wing organization be promoting Kerry? Why indeed?

5. The CONSTANT focus on Dean of the right wing psycho type web sites, warping his words, hacking his quotes, shoveling mounds of their intellectually dishonest, hit piece mentality his way. Lots of effort for an easy mark?

6. Make no mistakes, the GOP hit on Kerry is just now coming, now that Kerry's momentum may be irreversible. Today we have a preview of their hit parade - Along with the plethora of special interest pieces:

church because of his abortion stand -

*a piece by Bob Dole criticizing Kerry "On Fox News recently, my friend John Kerry stated: "I've never made any judgments about any choice somebody made about avoiding the draft, about going to Canada, going to jail, being a conscientious objector, going into the National Guard." Sen. Kerry did make a judgment, in 1992, when Bill Clinton -- who did not serve -- was running against Sen. Bob Kerrey, a Vietnam veteran. After Bob Kerrey criticized Gov. Clinton, John Kerry said, "We do not need to divide
America over who served and how." He should stick to his
previous position by acknowledging the honorable service of
President Bush and the hundreds of thousands of other National Guard members defending America every day."

In which they dis him for pulling rank on constituents, having a fire hydrant removed in Boston so he could park his car at his "tony digs". . .
*ACTION*
Write to your local paper telling them why Kerry is obviously the GOP's favorite. Addresses available at link at bottom of page. Talk to people you know about this - lots of people are voting for Kerry because the GOP has been successful in making them believe JUST THE OPPOSITE

2. At this point, it was predictable that there was
generally precious poor press coverage of the amazing
fundraising day on the blog yesterday. Here's the piece in NY Daily News: "In an E-mail plea for money, the once-flush Dean campaign said, "The entire race has come down to this: We must win Wisconsin. Anything else will put us out of the race."

The campaign hoped to raise $700,000, and had hauled in
$650,000 by last night. " (this almost makes it sound like Dean fell short. . )

*ACTION*

Write your local paper, tell them the story they're missing. Tell them why you support the Governor. Link to addresses below.

3. "MEET THE PRESS WITH TIM RUSSERT"

FROM THE OVAL OFFICE, PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH TO
APPEAR ON MEET THE PRESS THIS SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2004

"What question would you like to ask this week's Meet the Press guest? Send your e-mail to askmtp@nbc.com."

Pro-War, Anti-War, Insider, Outsider, Liberal, Conservative: The Many Faces Of John Kerry

JOHN KERRY has pulled into the lead for the Democratic Party presidential nomination. In other words, even if tries on a bit of the liberal rhetoric here and there, Kerry is one candidate who George W. Bush and his advisers can never call "too radical." But the flipside is that Kerry is a thoroughly inside insider in Washington. He has everything that Corporate America--and the Democratic Party establishment--want in the White House.

This one is good for a BIG LOUD SCREAM OF FRUSTRATION:
Kerry Presidency Seen a Boon for U.S. Markets

A4CRBAEOCFEY?type=reutersEdge&storyID=4303581
NEW YORK (Reuters) - If John Kerry wins the Democratic
nomination and goes on to be the next U.S. president, experts say it would be good for Wall Street, which likes the way he talks up balancing the budget.

(DOES ANYONE ELSE NEED A TRUCKLOAD OF VALIUM ,
RIGHT ABOUT NOW?)

. . ."Kerry (policy) will probably be similar to a Clinton economic policy, which would be more focused on balancing the budget," said Gus Faucher, a senior economist with Economy.com, where he tracks elections. . Analysts said a successfully balanced budget will eventually help stocks once the deficit becomes more manageable.

Grand Old Pragmatism

Some Democrats cheated and looked into their hearts, where
they found Howard Dean. But he was so appealing that he
scared them. This is no moment to vote for a guy just because he inspires you, they thought. If he inspires me, there must be something wrong with him. So Democrats looked around and rediscovered John Kerry. He'd been there all along, inspiring almost no one.
