If you are trying to take that into saying that the State has an obligation to bestow marriage "rights" upon homosexuals, you miss my point entirely. Steven would argue that line. I argue that marriage is not a right, or a special privelege, but an historical contractual arrangement regulated by the State, based in deep tradition. If you begin to argue that they "deserve" such a "right" then there is nothing inconsistent about someone demanding a "right" to marry their dog. Why not? Are you a speciesist? It is absurd.
