I only assume it predicted higher interest rates, as to the Stock market it does not really fit. Usually when a currency is depreciating the country stock market goes up.

WHat gave the push to the stock market was FX rates e.g. declining USD and "considerable time"

Just calculate the return in the US stock for a guy in Germany New Zealand or Australia ---- nothing to brag about
