In relative terms Europe was deforested before the United States was colonized. The abundance of wood was very important to the successful economic development of the US. Where do you get the idea that the deforestation of Brazil increases global warming? What is the mechanism for this?

You say that the polar caps are melting at an abnormal rate. What is abnormal? The latest info I have seen is that one cap is declining and the other is growing. There is oil on the North Slope of Alaska. Oil is believed to come from the long decay of tropical plants. If a warmer earth is unusual how did this happen?

The case for man-caused global warming and for man's abiliy to materially affect it if it is occurring is flimsy. I'm sure you want to believe the theory but just take what you know and examine whether it makes sense or not. I think you know enough to raise serious doubts in your own mind.

Let me add my contrary recollection that the major concern re Brazil deforestization revolves around the destruction of biodiversity.
