Marek CDMA is a technology created for communications purposes for the military. Cold War ended and QCOM was told to sell its wares elsewhere and they no longer could milk the denfesne budget.

CDMA, a robust and coded technology was made for soldiers communicated in the battle field. QCOM positioned its technology against GSM, an overspecified technology devised speciafically for public communicatons.

Wile the US lansguished behind in publci wireless technology, because QCOM was busy milking the US defense budget and so was MOT, the Scandinavians stole their thunder.

With the juggernaut US pushing it from behind the technology has made inroads into public communications, which China is a case in point.

You are right: THERE IS NO DEFINITIVE TEHCNOLOGY. Another one will come and withe a better, more cost effetcive and cheaper solution. It is justa matter of time.

Marek, what Microsoft is paying now and what QCOM is paying now and what the gas pipeline is doing now are irrelevant. Predicting and creating the future is how the money is made and the present is created [when the present arrives in a few years].

The net present value of MSFT, QCOM and the pipeline is determined by the money which will come in over the next 20 years. What came in last year and the year before that is irrelevant.

In 1900, a good bet would have been to invest in horse shoes based on the previous 10 years of profits. But not many decades later, the number of horses on the street had dwindled to near zero and tyres were shown to be a better investment.
