Frankly, I don't give a rat's a** about whether Bush showed up or not, and the more it's discussed, the more people are turned off by it.

You want the election to turn on something that (allegedly) occurred 30 years ago, was discussed during the previous election, and has been made totally and completely irrelevant by events since then.
