SS is only solvent until 2040 if the current level of paid in funds is maintained. We are going to have to cut payroll taxes if we want to keep jobs in the US, since offshore workers are payroll tax free. Seriously I think we need to shift some of this tax burden to passive income or something. Its bad enough that US engineers are having to compete with india, but to tax an additional 15K on top of their salary can't be justified, in order to pay for some benefit he will never see.
