First...I thought Russert did a good job of trying to pin Shrub down on some very important issues. However, as to be expected Shrub avoided and repeated his "taught and scripted" answers to the point that one time he admitted that he was repeating himself.

I did find it amazing that Shrub admitted that he decided to invade Iraq on what was the "best" intelligence available, which tells me that we have a real problem in this area.

When asked about being AWOL, I find it amazing that his defense was that it was horrible that the Democrats were making light of the National Guard and that they shouldn't be doing that. Excuse me Mr. Shrub, the Democrats were speaking very directly about YOU and the fact that YOU were AWOL. I don't recall the Democrats making one reference to any other individuals being AWOL from the National Guard. The charge was specific to YOU!!!!

And I find it incredible that he "tried" to defend the largest deficit, the largest drop in jobs by saying his way of cutting taxes was the only way to grow the economy and create jobs. Darn it! I hate it when a son not only threatens to beat the **** out of his father, but for the son to later turn around and say his father was stupid. Does anyone remember WHY Bush Sr. was turned on by his loyal gang of conservatives and why he was defeated for re-election? Remember the promise..."Read my lips! No more taxes!" and then he gave us more taxes and eventually a new president. A new president by the way that served in the longest and most sustained economic growth and job creation in the history of the United States. How soon we forget! And now Shrub Jr. is telling us his way is the right way! All those history books, and we never seem to learn from the past.

As for history, isn't it amazing that the Republicans use the stock market as the gauge for their motivation and attempts to accumulate wealth at the expense of the middle and poor classes in this country. What is amazing about this is that if one looks at the period from 1900 to 2000, during the 52 years that the Republicans were in the White House $10,000.00 compounded during time and based on the annual average change in the DJIA would have grown to a WHOPPING $94,675.00. How easy it is to see why the Republicans jump up and down about their success in the stock market and why they should be the stewards for our money!! BUT! BUT!! BUT!!!!! Just for curosity, then lets look at the other 47 years in this period of 1900 to 2000 in which the Democrats held the White House. Did they even come close to achieving this whopping increase from $10,000.00 to $94,675.00. Sadly! I must admit that in comparison...the figure was now where NEAR the gain from $10,000.00 to $94,6750.00. Was it the fact that the Democrats had fewer years...47 vs 52..to achieve this remarkable gain? But lets solve the mystery!! Just how far off were the Democrats from this WHOPPING gain to $94,675.00 in a period of having 5 fewer years to achieve the standard set by the Repubicans. Sadly! And it pains we to admit...the Democrats deviated from this Republican standard by $166,255.00. Now some of you are probably scratching your head and saying how could the Democrat presidents be off by this much...does this mean that the $10,000.00 original investment turn into a loss?

NOOOOOO! It means that during 47 years of Democrats vs 52 years of Republicans the $10,000.00 investment turned into a STUPENDOUS $$270,000.00 thus outpacing the Republicans meager $94,675.00 by $166,255.00.
And to think that Shrub today said it was the Republicans and his way that builds the economy and creates jobs.

All the wasted paper that we publish history books..and we never learn!!
