This is called Press Training. I received it when working in NYC. The strategy is simply, think of 3 things you want audience to remember, repeat these copy points regardless of the question, never say or bring up competition.

The sad part is that the Press, Tim Russert, is trained to overcome this tactic. They looked like Abbot and Costello.
