Bush's Russert interview was sadly dishonest. He just will not admit he's ever made a mistake in his life despite clear evidence to the contrary. I suppose he's afraid that if he admits one lie or mistake that all the others will come crashing down on him. On the comntrary, if he started admitting mistakes (like JFK did after the Bay Of Pigs) and taking responsibility, people might respect him more.

It's a little more complicated than you suggest. Otherwise, Clinton/Gore would have foreseen it and done something to prevent it. Right?
