The rightwing is calling our war heros "murderers".
I suppose that means McCain was a murderer for dropping bombs on villages. Bush Sr. was a murderer. Ollie North certainly must have been a mass murderer. And all our pilots in Iraq and Afghanistan are murderers too. This is a grave mistake by the right to go down this road. I don't know who the hell they think will ever listen to them.

The distinction, which I find rather easy to make, is whether the civilians are intentionally and primarily targeted.

Giving an order to open fire on an unarmed old man, and chasing down and "finishing off" an unarmed, wounded, fleeing enemy combatant both seem to be the kind of thing that landed Lt. Calley of the My Lai massacre in the brig.

Should different rules apply to Lt. John Forbes-Kerry and Lt. Calley because of their backgrounds and social status?
