What that article doesn't tell you, but what you would know if you are from that area is that the Radnor district not only has a higher revenue from property taxes (even with a lower rate, due to high assessed value) to pay for it's schools than Chester (lots more houses, higher rate but lower home values) but it also has a very high percentage of homeowners who don't even send their kids to the highly funded public schools, they send them to private schools and fork over the extra 12-25k a year. Mostly it's a social decision, there is a certain status associated with going to the private schools in the area. Meanwhile the public schools there are terrific and highly competitive with private education on a nationwide basis.
