Mike, most of those who supported a Balanced Budget Amendment supported one which had 2/3rd exceptions built in during times of war. Restarting the economy would have been better for us as a nation long term if we cut billions in government waste. I also believe it would focus us more toward spending on what was truly important as a nation, vice porking a different part of the pie.

Term limits addresses the fundamental problem of long term aristocracy which happens when men and women have doors opened for them, and are coddled for far too long. It would also negate the influence of special interest groups.

All the arguments one makes against term limits for Congress could be made against term limits for the President. And I believe it's been a wise thing to have the President with a limited term.

Twelve years for a Senator, and 6 years for a House member should be enough. Serving was supposed to be a short term honorable thing to do, not a lifelong job with a built in mechanism to ensure tenure with a lavish retirement package.
