Hi Joan Graffius; Re: "Anyone who thinks a home (that you live in) and a car are investments we have changed the definition of investment."

I guess we're always sort of surprised when the wheel of time slowly turns and stocks get dumped for real assets.

My guess is that the people investing in stuff like cars are the leading edge. They may end up doing just fine, especially as compared with what would happen if they put it into bonds and stocks in the current pre-inflationary interest rate environment.

P.S. Didn't we already have this conversation, but years ago? Maybe on the Kahuna thread?

Did you see this quote from USA Today?

"Some disheartened job seekers are making money on e-Bay, selling their poetry or doing odd jobs for neighbors instead of sending out more résumés."

The way I see it, if I can find someone like that, I will pay them if they agree not to write any poetry, and then I will allow them to mow my lawn for free.

Hi Joan, re:Interesting Times - What else can you call it when a Central Bankster (that we don't get to vote for) is allowed to micro mange the "free market economy" to the extent that Beanie Babies outperform Gold as an investment for much of the decade! <G>
