all of this mumbo jumbo has been spouted by the supply siders for years, at the same time they said "jobs are just around the corner" while they proceeded to liquidate the treasury to stimulate growth. The facts are that the US never faced a significant global threat to the degree that we are facing against China now. Prior to the mid 90s China was essentially communist. Then, in the late 90s that asian flu happened which stalled their growth. Finally, right around y2K all these matters were resolved and China hit us hard and we have suffered massive destruction of the US manufacturing base ever since. China then lifted the Indian economy to a degree and services started to take it on the chin in the US. Now, VC is funding IP development there with US capital, US funding is going for large IP projects which are only developed in India not here. It is nothing more than a capital and brain drain and all republicans can do is dwell on their theories which are not working. I'm sure this economy will stagnate here, offshoring is accelerating not declining. Anyway no matter, its Bush's funeral.
