American spirit, What do you expect, when you lack a secret ballot. Every vote in the house and senate is public. That is the basis of vote trading and all the pork in US politics. The system needs to allow a senator or congressman to vote his conscience. Sure we can see how they vote for our interests, but it also allows coercion to take place. It is a conundrum that is partly solved by party politics, British style, where every member votes for his parties position. Thus no gain by bribibg a politician, the vote cannot be swung. This gets rid of all the vote trading. There are lots of jobs for the poor people, it is only the rich who are losing them to China, those poor $100,000 a year IT guys and Autoworkers, Bill
