The presidency is a grave and great responsibility particularly for someone like our "war president" Bush. This job is taking its toll on him, and IMO he's going to have a tough time finishing this year let alone going on for another term. As "laura" says, he just wants to be left alone. Even his GOP comrades who continue to throw money at him have doubts now. And if it ain't Bush running, the neocons have no one...
