The NEW Bush Economic Whoppers!

Whopper #1: The Bush administration announced today that they expect the economy to create 2.6 million new positions this year.

FACT: Last year, the Bush administration was looking for the creation of about 1.7 million jobs. But the economy actually lost 53,000 jobs, bringing the total number of jobs lost since Bush took office to 2.2 million.

Whopper #2: In the Russert interview, Bush claimed that his administration will cut the deficit in half in 5 years.

FACT: Just two years ago in January of 2002, Bush claimed he would cut the deficit to just $14 Billion in fiscal 2004. It is now estimated to be $521 Billion, not counting another $200 Billion or so in off-budget and supplementary items!

In Bush’s own words: “Fool me once --- shame on --- shame on you. Fool me --- can’t get fooled again.”
