At least, that's an article of faith among many who oppose public acceptance of homosexuality.

I can only assume that there are many who would engage in orgiastic wild monkey sex with anything that moved and beat each other senseless for fun and profit, but for fear of going to hell. At least, that seems to be what they're hinting.

I take your point. Really, I do. But what does that have to do with civil marriage here and now? People who want to engage in monkey sex are doing so right now. There is nothing in our marriage laws that stops them. Those that fear hell will abstain, but that has nothing to do with our marriage laws either. Our marriage laws have little to do with any of the things that seem to be on the minds of the defenders of marriage.

Lots of marrying your sister and men marrying men going on among that sort.

What's the difference between men marrying their sisters or other men and men simply screwing their sisters or other men, particularly while married to some sweet young thing? I insist that marriage, the legal certificate, is not all that relevant a variable. People defending marriage are defending a worthless piece of paper, worthless in terms of what I think matters to them.
