They misled us. >> A good action taken for the wrong reasons is still a good action. It took time in Vietnam. If we are there in 5 years, we can debate it again, and see if attitudes on the ground changed. And - many in the military do NOT want to go to Iraq. I know some just called up from the Michigan guard. >> If soldiers really are indoctrinated to believe that their cause is just, then there would have been universal support in Vietnam for that war. Which, of course, there wasn't.
