You really did imply hard determinism and I corrected the implication to show that genetic determinism may not be at issue here. It may be a cross-working of both genetic and environmental determinism. Your statement that cocaine addiction has no genetic component applies also to homosexuality. Nevertheless it may be the case that there is such a component for both homosexuality and cocaine addiction. It may be that as a result of environmental influences we are all capable of becoming addicted to cocaine and to homosexual behavior, but by varying degrees due to genetics.
