Would you say that to the democrat soldiers who are putting their lives on the line in Iraq? Surely you don't think all those black and hispanic soldiers are all republicans.

Sorry I misunderstood your position - I though you were arguing that the rich shouldn't pay more taxes and that the poor somehow deserve what they get.

I'm sure you know there's a Constitutional amendment allowing a progressive income tax.

But if you count all taxes, especially the regressive payroll tax, you find taxation is actually pretty flat measured against income.

I think there should be a flat wealth tax. That is, if you own 1% of the nation's wealth, you should be paying 1% of the taxes.

But it doesn't work like that. The wealthy are paying nowhere near their fair share by that measure.

And the wealthy write the tax codes, what a shock.
