It is funny that Nader, even now, has thought about running again. Ultimately, not a serious man.

I find the brouhaha over religious symbols scandalous. Both Chirac's party and the Socialists overwhelming voted for it in the National Assembly. Since these are the chief mainstream parties, it is like the Center is announcing that it is against the free exercise of religion, and, since it is primarily aimed at Muslims, that it is pretty iffy about recent immigrants. I understand the anxiety over religious fundamentalism among Muslims, given the propensity of Ultras to blow things up, but I do not think this will make things better, I think it will be seen merely as a hostile gesture.......
