My comments to lurqer are self-explanatory, Scott. If he continues to delete the names of authors from articles he is posting, I will be forwarding his posts to the authors and publishers for review. I fully expect that legal action will ensue and IMO lurqer has it coming.

Take it easy on lurqer.

Not to worry. If someone insists on things being their way, well...

More interestingly, what do you think Clark will do now?

And on a matter we discussed earlier, "No Child left Behind" is coming to a boil at various locations around the country. I think played right, the Demos could capitalize on this.

In a statistically small sample, one outlier is just that. But two, and it's time for a reassessment, for the outlier thesis is now suspect. Back some months ago, when you said the number of your posts would be sharply curtailed because of your business, I considered my options. First, I believed I owed this thread. It had been a valuable conduit of information that had elevated my understanding. In any group that I've ever been involved with, I've always experienced an obligation to "hold up my end of the stick". It's fine to take, but one should also give back. In a group, that means everyone is a winner, for you receive from all, even though you only contribute your share.

Secondly, although as a news hound, I'm a pale comparison wrt your abilities, nevertheless I've "kept up with the news" long before I ever used the net. Since in my own news scans, I would come across many articles that might be of interest to the posters on this thread, I decided temporarily, I'd try to "take up the slack". Two considerations made me hesitate. One, although our interests had considerable overlap, they were far from identical. Hence, there would be a shift in the types of articles that would be posted.

Two was the time problem involved in that much posting. For me, the important parts of the article are the headline and the body. This is because it's the ideas that I'm interested in. As I'm sure you know, there is considerable variation in what comes between the two. Sometimes there is a sub-headline, sometimes not. Sometimes an author, sometimes not. Sometimes a date stamp, sometimes not. Sometimes a location, and again sometimes not. And this list is only part of the variation. The publishers use various typefaces, bolding and italics to differentiate these info bits. If it is just copied and pasted, the result is less than satisfactory. Since it was a borderline decision for me to begin with, what I decided to do was just post the headline, body and link. In special cases, I would make exceptions. For example, if the sub-headline was of sufficient import, I would place it, in fixed font, after the bolded headline. If the author was of sufficient import, as e.g. the three unlikely amigos yesterday, then the author was included. But typically just the bolded headline, body and link made the process sufficiently rapid, to allow me to post as I have been doing now for some weeks.

Given the irritation that I've inadvertently produced, given the recent increased pressure on my available time and given this was a borderline decision ab initio, I've decided to sharply curtail my volume of posting. I want to thank you for the effort you have put into making this thread such a valuable asset. I have a better appreciation of the level of effort required, than I formerly did.

Thanks again.
