< it is your exquisite command of the language which enables you to find such gelastic gems... >

No, it it is my exquisite command of other, much less idiomatic languages which enables me to construct such more non-idiomatic gems...

That is, some basic basics in linguistics:

When children start to learn the basic grammar, constructions, how to form sentences, the usually apply very non-idiomatic, but expandable, logically correct grammar. The more idiomatic a language is, and the more authorative the upbringing is, the more painful this is for both the kid and the parents.

Later on in primary school comes the task of reading and writing, another source for the same reactions, if spelling is just as idiomatic as the grammar. (in combination with pronun(monk?)ciation)

Some 10-15-20 years later a third process of higher and professional education continues, maybe within wider social and geographical contacts, maybe even international and totally different languages.

However, already before this latest phase, a wicked self feeding circle of classification according to any factors involved. Sometimes resulting in strong objections to any updating or reform of both (accepted, or "correct") grammar, spelling and pron(o)unciation.

Btw, I thought americans were somewhat aware of this, as you have England as a reference??

One more, do you have any basic definition of the mechanisms behind "fun", "hilarious", "LOL", humo(u)r", "comedy"?? (that fear and pain factor, from tripping on a banana peel, deciding on the wrong fork at a dinner, to more sarcastic, ironic variations??)

CSPAN and the Channel with the most ignorant, lost in broadcasted space viewers, beats many almost as funny things, from any possible side of that heavenly, etherly spinning comet.

c-span.org

I am forced to admit, the skill to start out with a really obvious un-fact, and then continue on after that in an secured enviroment, that has been improved, at least been adapted for the US masses, since Murdoch got started in England, many, many moons ago.

But what was that 1995 Murdoch-Newt deal??

Did they miss it with one year, that blessing of 1948??
