I believe the tipping point involves two things

1. Asia (in particular China) requires the capital for middle class domestic credit needs

2. a US refinance new round has poor results, as rates drop, but very little continued consumption

either way, reduced yields and falling dollar push toward that end point
who knows when?
who cares when?
like an addict with his/her dealer
like a husband with a cheating wife
like a manager with a badboy athlete
like a wealthy father with a bratty son always in trouble
like a Board with a selfish spendthrift CEO.....

IT COMES TO AN END, ALWAYS, since it strains the human nature

Re: your post to JWCB titled "The Asian Credit Supply and the Western Consumer" ... you commented:

"The relationship feels very much like one between the addict and the drug dealer. I have no idea when the arrangement ends...but these relationships never end well."

Well the so-called Opium War between Britain and China certainly didn't end very well. You remember the Opium War? ... the one where Britain took the moral high-ground of "free trade" to demand the right to hook China's coastal population on opium. Yes, such moral righteousness of the time of the Anglo "race" (as they conceived themselves at the time) certainly makes me proud of my own partial English heritage ... NOT.

I believe this was how Britain obtained Hong Kong. Makes me wonder if one day China will do a hostile takeover of Liverpool or Manchester. Then again, perhaps as the lead singer of Midnight once proclaimed, "the time has come to say fair's fair". Go figure, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution a Communist precinct. Who'd have thunk it? ;)
