I read some comments from one of the Dem political advisers, might have been Kerrys, I don't remember. But essentially he said, regardless of the outcome, the Dems had to thank Dean. He was the first politician to really start nailing Bush, especially on the war. Before that they were all afraid to look "unpatriotic", in the wake of 9/11. Dean had the balls, and when he did it, the others found out it was OK.
