For a short while, back in those heady days, there appeared to be a genuine fiscally responsible GOP majority in Congress.

So extending your logic, would it be correct to say that the Republican majority in Congress during 1996-2000 were busy impeaching Clinton and hence ignored their duties. As a result the economic decay set in.

Today's free trade is unfair & causing high unemployment in USA. Greedy multi-national corps cannot make sacrificial lambs of Americans workers on the altar of free trade. If Bush or any other politician wants to get elected this yr, they must promise to re-negotiate trade agreements with consideration for workers or alter corporation tax incentives so that the only cos qualified to receive them will be those creating jobs in USA.
