elmat, What you say is most obvious. Seems little political interest in gradual migration to a tarrif/duty free world. Rather entrenched interests in keeping the status quo. A smaller pie for all is ok as long as my piece remains big or bigger. <ng> Greenspan sees the flaw(s) in protectionism, and even brought forth the importance of education and skills going forward in his last testimony. It has been said by others that the key new era success factor is critical thinking skills. Wide availability & employment of critical thinking skills might negate reliance simplistic arguments & positioning to obtain special favors from the crown/throne.
