"Right now I’m just not happy with my wife’s company’s refusal to hire people and instead force the people there to work overtime month after month." Probably due to the cost of benefits rising so much. I had to drop my group plan on account of the cost per employee rising 160% in two years.

Josh you must tell us if the management of your wife's company are bush supporters. that is the problem with this recovery. Workers aren't participating just owners.
