To be honest, I think pawn shops are suffering from easy credit.

I mean, why go get something second hand -- even if you are at the bottom socio-economcally speaking -- when you can finance something new at next to nothing -- assuming you have a job??

How are the rent-to-own places doing -- that might be a better indicator ...

A friend has been in the pawn business for 42 years...he's
about to "give it up". Forfeited mdse. is not selling.....

I won't even visit him in his shop because it's so crowded
with "stuff"....

Yup, pawn shops are an excellent indicator !
