We call that flash hot water system around here...great idea....I suspect more hot water is left to cool, unused, in the hot water pipes coming from the hot water heater than what is most frequently used in the process of using the hot water.

As far a needing a low water volume flush, I employ a cup or jar and wash it down the sink for that...

As if you really wanted to know...
