First, the facts are disturbing, but that doesn't make them "weepy." Second, if you are going to send young men to kill and die, you BETTER have a little empathy to understand the cost. Or maybe you don't have to have any empathy? Maybe they're just expendable numbers of low value resources that we can toss into the grinder? Third, while no one's a "detached observer," facts are facts and they're everywhere to be seen if you've the sense to look. Why don't you go to the library and read a few first hand accounts. Here's a suggestion, go to Barnes and Noble and read "The Cat From Hue." It's fairly recent and recounts the Vietnam tours of a man that was famous as a reporter in Vietnam. He started out as a pro-authority, pro-military spokesman, pro-war young man. See where he ended up after years of covering the war, and why. Read about wiping out villages, fragging women and children in underground holes in hooches. See how the military lied and exaggerated it's successes. See what happened to those with integrity that wouldn't "play ball." See how the press feeds on the scraps fed to them by the military. See what happened when they finally got to a line outfit and printed the truth. See what he SAW. After you've read it, tell me how weepy and emotional HE is, and how the atrocities never happened. I don't think you'll read it. I think you're too full of righteous piety. I think you like it that way. I think you'd rather just spout off your uninformed opinion that Kerry lied about Vietnam and betrayed his troops. I think you'll never say you're wrong. If you do read it then come back and talk about it. At least it'll show that you cared enough to learn something about the charges you're willing to make and repeat against Kerry.
