i could feel the difference this week - even
this morning with a slight frost on the roof,
the day turned out to be warm and nurturing
i didn't know why. now i do <s>.

the grass is growing, a few crocuses are blooming
(the yellow ones) and my roses are sprouting
leaves. i'll have to prune them back very soon now.
won't be thinking about planting for a while though.

i spent a couple hours the day before yesterday
out front, raking up those stubborn leaves that
refused to fall in autumn and those that blew
in from god knows where. at first i stood there,
rake in hand, thinking that there is so much to
do - where to start, but once i did it was fine.
i wasn't intimidated any longer. it happens
to me every spring.

we deserve this renewal methinks. perhaps even
more than usual.

oh, btw, someone stole our picket gate from our
picket fence last saturday night - just tore it
right off its hinges. it looks so strange and
feels so open and exposed without it.

i guess they needed a gate more than we do.

happy planting farmer fudd.
