While I feel empathy for M. Beaudoin, I'm sure his is only but one such story; and the billions wasted by the Liberals are not fully uncovered.

Martin, while Finance Minister, shipped billions off the government books to so-called arms-length foundations / trusts / etc, in order to ensure that programs and Liberal friends continued to get funding even if they were not elected. This was in practice prior to 2000 and after the last general election.

The AG currently (last I checked) has no right to investigate these "off balance sheet" organizations. Yet its plainly taxpayer money which funds or helps to fund a lot of these organizations.

I'm sure additional hires in the AG's office would be money well spent - more staff, plus a mandate to follow the money wherever it goes...
