Les, "self-certified" mortgages have been here for years. In America they're called "Stated-Income" mortgages and the mortgage rate is usually 1/4 point higher. You tell the lender how much you earn and for 1/4 point they promise to believe you. This is one of the most popular mortgage programs in Southern California.
