Taser-Related Death in Minneapolis

2/13/04 10:21 AM EST

Update TASR

A mentally-ill Minneapolis man died after suffering cardiac arrest shortly after police subdued him with a Taser.
This is an appalling, very sad story that would figure to give pause to the "Taser as safe alternative" view.
At the very least, the death is likely to lead to extended coverage and related lawsuits.

The full story is on startribune.com.
For the record, as of now authorities are saying that the man had existing medical conditions and that they "don't think the Taser caused the subsequent cardiac arrest."

The stock, rather obviously, has absolutely nothing to do with any sort of fundamentals or news. I wouldn't begin to guess if this story will have any effect on it. Just passing it along.
