if they use the PCE deflator which has been averaging 1 percent or less forever, the average social security check will double in about 70 years. the monthly check would be $ 2000 in 2075. meanwhile, medicare premiums are rising at 10-15 percent per year. they're currently about $ 70 per month. under his scenario, in about thirty years, the average senior citizen would pay more for medicare than he would receive in social security checks.

what is your objection to raising retirement age for SS? We're in such a bad economic state at this point some cuts have to happen somewhere.
