Z, We went into Iraq because of many reasons, and oil was just one of them ... But, the administration had to stretch the truth or delude itself to get us there.

I thought the administration made some of those other reasons clear. They just chose to emphasize the WMD because it made the strongest case for war, assuming they were there. And back then, everyone did assume that, including the opponents to the war.

Neo-conservative experiment had to start somewhere

Good one. ;-)

Bush grudge

Remember when people were saying just over a year ago, "We should have taken out Saddam back in the first Gulf War"?

And it's not a bad case, if all of those points turned out to be true.

But, the administration had to stretch the truth or delude itself to get us there.

Z,

Your post is well said.

I can handle that they deluded themselves; its that they deluded the American people in the process that puts me over the edge. We trust our leaders to give us a reasonable facsimile of the truth.
