If gay marriage is to be considered, so should polygamous marriage. If marriag is defined as one man and one woman, there is cultural, biological, and historial support for that definiton. If the gender portion of that definition is to be abandoned, there is no logical reason to retain the numerical portion, either.

After all, polygamous marriage has a much longer and more distinguished history than gay marriage.

When I raise this with my gay and lesbian friends, they are generally appalled at the prospect. They don't want to eliminate discrimination in marriage; they merely want to move the line of discrimination so that they are on the "in" side but others remain on the "out" side.

Talk about hypocrisy!
