none of this matters because when people elect presidents during tough times, they elect against a theme more than the person. The personal issues matter but only in good times. Thats how Reagan won against Carter- Reagan represented power and that was what the public wanted. That is where we are now wrt Bush, he represents fear and greed with a backdrop of incompetance. Maybe Kerry is not the best candidate but the Kerry "team" has to be better than the Bush team and that is the important issue.

My guess is that Rove will be surprised as Kerry becomes the Teflon candidate to all these personal smears. What Rove NEEDS to do is promote the *theme* of the Bush doctrine as good for America. He won't though (and it would be hard anyway with all the screwups) and instead focus on Jane Fonda and other sillyness. Roves attacks will be wholly ineffective imho.
