He may have gotten special treatment, but he denies asking for it, as does his father. Who knows, really? For the rest, the Air Guard was subject to being called up to active duty, just like the Army Guard. It was no sure escape from Vietnam. In fact, many Air Guard units were called up during the Korean War, and some during Vietnam. In war, some people die. In this case, a very low number have done so. Great care was taken to keep casualties low........
