Either friends or lovers implies a consentual relationship between those capable of giving consent.

Not with modern medicines and contraceptives.

After all, there were once good health reasons for the kosher laws, but no longer.

And if marriage is extended to gays, it's clear that the purpose of marriage is no longer the creation of children by the parties to the marriage, so there's no reason why a parent and child couldn't marry and just not have natural children, but if they wanted children use artificial insemination or adopt. No reason at all. So no, your objection is not valid.
