I'll be surprised if you get much of an answer.....On the topic of awol, in 1973 it was fairly common (in my limited experience) for people to be discharged early if they had a non-critical rating....it also became policy to weed out those that were considered "marginal performers"....So, Mr. Bush's story rings true with what was happening around me.....Of course, Dipy's unit might have been too important to be granted such favors....
