The refusal by the media to shut down on the AWOL story while spiking this one shows the "lay of the land," IMO.

They haven't spiked it - yet. The pattern is, the 'mainstream' media need someone else to do the dirty work and break it into the open, so they can keep their hands clean by reporting on the story, not the rumor. We'll see.

With the Bush/AWOL charge, they had an investigative report at the Globe to provide the bone fides of the story. Of course, there was no actual news reason to bring it up again, but we know how that goes.

After Bubba, I look for the hole.

There may be one, but you can't infer it from that interview. Neither can you say that Kerry settled the question. There is nothing that you can legitimately conclude from that interview.

The lack of an outraged denial by Kerry when this broke, along with the "no comment" by the woman, pretty well says there was an affair.

Neither can you conclude that although it does nothing to counter your suspicions. If I were in their position and innocent of the charges--actually, I have been in a similar situation--I would say "no comment" as well on the grounds of not dignifying it with a response and on the grounds of the less said the better. I don't find their handling of it odd at all. Their response could support either side of the argument.

You just want it to be true whereas I don't much care.

NYTimes editorial on thursday said bush awol story was fair game because get this, he flew the plane to the carrier. I guess they are pissed off that a guy who was AWOL, successfully landed a jet on a carrier even though he never trained and he is dumb as a stump. If the kerry story has legs it will get play. I dont believe it happened yet. IF Fox gets proof it will be on. By the way, beware of drudge, rush, hannity. They are little different from moore and franken. There are plenty of better cons out there as there are better libs. Mike
